Superintendent
Dr. Steve Ellis began his tenure as Superintendent of Nash County Public Schools on March 1, 2020.
"I am committed to engaging students, staff, and community members to create a high performing school district," Dr. Ellis said. "I will strive for high expectations in our schools in every possible way. This is not a job for me, but a calling."
Prior to coming to Nash County Public schools, Dr. Ellis was Special Assistant to the Superintendent in Wilson County. He has served in various roles including Executive Director, High School and Middle School principal, teacher, coach, and teacher assistant. Dr. Ellis also is an adjunct professor at Barton College.
After graduating from Barton College with a degree in Political Science and minor in Religion, Dr. Ellis attended East Carolina University and earned a masters in Administration. He earned his doctorate degrees in Educational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University in Florida.
