Hello everyone!

I am so happy to start this school year.  I am from Charleston, South Carolina. I lived in Germany for 4 years. I now consider Wilson my home for over 20 years.  I have coached basketball and volleyball at the middle school level for 12 years. I played both high school and college level basketball and volleyball.  I am a mother of two beautiful girls. I have been married to a wonderful man for  34 years.

I started my career in education as a substitute teacher, then as a teaching assistant, as a teacher, as an assistant principal, and now as a Principal. I have been in education for 25 years. I love to travel and visit other countries. I am so happy to have served in many different jobs within the education system. I have always wanted to be an educator and my dreams have come true.  I am very excited to be the Principal at Winstead Elementary School because now I’m able to reach so many more students' lives. Here at Winstead, we can learn and we will learn.

With great excitement, I greet you as the Assistant Principal of Winstead Avenue Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to help lead a school with such brilliant students, an exceptionally dedicated staff, and a supportive school community. I am a native of Nash County and attended Nash County Public Schools. I received my Early Childhood degree from East Carolina University. I later returned to school to obtain my Elementary education degree. After completion, I furthered my education, acquired a Master's in Elementary Education, and recently earned a Master's in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University. Education has been my passion for seventeen years. I have worked with students ranging in age from Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade in various roles; teacher, instructional coach, and multi-classroom leader. I am delighted to bring my skills as an educator and leader to WAVE.

Because the relationships between teachers, administrators, and families are vital to the success of our students and school, I encourage you to be involved with your child's education continuously. I am very fortunate to be part of the WAVE administration team; I look forward to working with you as a partner in education.
